Responsibilities
Supervise and lead crews in performing a variety of highway maintenance tasks
Operate heavy highway equipment as needed
Perform grading and cleaning of ditches, drainage structures, road shoulders, and slopes using appropriate machinery
Conduct general repair and maintenance tasks, including fence and sign repairs, litter and debris removal, and emergency response activities
Ensure all equipment is used in a safe and proper manner
Carry out roadside maintenance such as mowing and brush clearing
Patch and repair damaged or eroded pavement and road shoulders
Assist with storm recovery and cleanup efforts
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record for a minimum of 5 years
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Capable of lifting 50–60 pounds
Willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends as needed
Flexibility to adjust to changing work plans and schedules due to workload, seasonal demands, or unforeseen circumstances
Preferred
Experience operating skid steers and dump trucks
Background in highway maintenance or construction
Previous DOT (Department of Transportation) experience
Ability to obtain ATSSA certification for traffic control installation
