Adaptive Recreation Leader I, II, III (2025)
The City of Davis is focused on providing support and supervision to adults and teens with disabilities through their Adaptive Recreation program. The role involves facilitating recreational activities, ensuring safety, and promoting social inclusion among participants.

Responsibilities
Responsible for executing and facilitating events, activities and trips for adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities is pre-established activities, events and outings
Setting up, running and cleanup of facilities for activities and programming
Ability to lead, engage and create a social, fun and active environment
Ability to provide instruction, behavioral management and support in community settings
Build rapport and connection with participants, their families and the community
Applicants must be energetic, enthusiastic, patient and flexible
Facilitates communication, friendships and social opportunities
Provides transportation using City of Davis vehicles (6 passenger vans) on outings
Assists supervisor in coordinating safe, fun and appropriate activities both virtual and in person
Work independently and safely supervise a group of 10 or more
Keeps work environments, facilities and equipment clean, organized and properly stored
Communicates with supervisory program staff regarding participant behavior, injuries, accommodation plans and other relevant matters
Attends staff meetings as scheduled
Qualification
Required
Must be 21 years or older
Must have a valid California Class C driver's license and be comfortable to drive City vehicles
Ability to transport oneself to and from different facilities and work sites that events take place at
Availability during weeknights and weekends. Events are Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and occasional Sunday
CPR and First Aid Certification prior to the start of employment
Ability to demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, and creativity in the job position
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with other program staff and community members
Ability and desire to advocate for individuals with disabilities to promote social inclusion
Ability to lead, engage and create a social, fun and active environment

Preferred
Having knowledge of recreation activities, behavior management practices and community resources is desirable
Having related experience working with teen/adults with disabilities is highly desirable
Community Services Specialist I is an entry-level position, but having some experience with I/DD is desirable
Community Services Specialist II is an entry-level position, but requires a minimum of one year of experience working in the recreational field with or without disabilities or similar setting. Additional education or comparable work experience may be substituted for a portion of the required work experience
