Responsibilities

Accurately receives, takes messages, and responds in a high-volume phone call environment
Effectively interacts with the public to provide excellent customer service
Accurately enters data to complete routine correspondence, forms, reports, and documents
Advises veterans on issues they may face and directs them to the correct professional services
Effectively updates social media with new information from Veterans Affairs
Attends speaking engagements as needed to support the Veteran Service Officers
Oversees some administrative matters in the Veterans Service Department, including scheduling, ordering supplies, and personnel matters
Regular and consistent attendance is required
Other duties as assigned

Required

Minimum – Associate's Degree in Business or Business Office Technology preferred
Knowledge of the various forms of veterans' or dependent claims and the different Veterans Administration units
Knowledge of community organizations, agencies, and facilities related to Veterans Affairs
Knowledge and ability to operate a computer related to Veterans Benefits and other county-related work, including social media management
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with service organizations and the general public
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to work independently
Possession of a valid driver's license
Must obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days
Experienced with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, & Outlook)
Able to utilize copiers, scanners, and fax machines
