Responsibilities

Operationally manage and maintain a district-wide boating and ocean recreation program through subordinate staff
Review overall boating and ocean recreation activities occurring in the district
Develop plans to meet the needs of the boating and general public
Operate and maintain assigned facilities and designated areas
Coordinate and implement boating registration and license/permit systems

Required

LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States
Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree
Specialized Experience: Two and one-half (2-1/2) years of experience in progressively responsible professional work experience which involved marine or boating related activities involving the safe use of navigable streams, beaches, coastal areas, and ocean waters; evaluating, operating and maintaining programs and activities to ensure the safe operation of marine vessels in and around harbors; developing plans to meet needs of both boating and general public; and monitoring compliance with applicable rules, regulations and procedures
Operational Management Experience: One (1) year of professional experience that provided a thorough knowledge of the applicable laws, rules and regulations pertaining to program activities, including identifying program goals and objectives and evaluating their attainment; identifying resource needs (manpower, material, equipment, etc.); planning, organizing, and coordinating program activities to attain program objectives within time, resource, and budgetary limitations; developing procedures; and actively participating in policy determination, budget formulation and execution
License Requirement: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment
