Community Technician - Vanderbilt -Tuesday-Saturday 11pm-7:30am
Bowery Residents' Committee is dedicated to helping New Yorkers experiencing homelessness reclaim their lives by providing essential services. The Community Technician role involves monitoring a residential program, ensuring safety, engaging with individuals empathetically, and managing various responsibilities related to resident care and facility maintenance.

Responsibilities
Assist in monitoring this residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment
Be part of a team with a commitment to engaging individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner while performing rounds and addressing the varied needs of individuals experiencing homelessness
Manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust while understanding each person's unique experience
Responsible for screening residents and visitors at front door, create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports and progress notes
Manage inventory for supplies, maintain fire safety drills and logs, and provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed
Assist with inspections and audits
Escort clients and serve meals as needed
Help maintain an orderly and clean facility
Related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED required
CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
TB clearance when required
ability to maintain professional boundaries
basic computer literacy required
Preferred
NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license
Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred; effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally
Bilingual abilities a plus
Vaccination preferred but not required
