Fire Alarm Inspection Technician

They are seeking a Fire Alarm Inspection Technician to provide reliable customer support through on-site inspections, testing, and documentation of fire protection equipment.

Responsibilities

Ensure all work is performed to NFPA and company standards with quality inspections
Complete inspections as efficiently as possible and communicate issues to the inspections admin team in a timely manner
Work within a team of inspectors to collaborate, problem solve, and learn in a fast-paced environment. Work independently when necessary to self-manage and complete jobs within the allotted time
Must be able to walk and climb ladders to safely test fire alarm systems such as smoke detectors, heat detectors and pull stations as needed
Complete inspections and daily tasks using company software
Work in compliance with the company safety policies and procedures to ensure safety of self and others at all times. Ensure compliance with electrical and fire safety codes
Work with test & inspection leadership, supervisors, scheduling coordinator, and office staff to ensure a seamless process from scheduling to billing. Strong communication and accurate report completion are a must
Troubleshoot electrical issues using a variety of testing devices
Properly maintain and take care of equipment

Required

Self-motivated, customer service-oriented individual
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of Fire & Life Safety Systems
Ability to walk and climb ladders to safely test fire alarm systems such as smoke detectors, heat detectors and pull stations
Complete inspections and daily tasks using company software
Work in compliance with the company safety policies and procedures to ensure safety of self and others
Ensure compliance with electrical and fire safety codes
Work with test & inspection leadership, supervisors, scheduling coordinator, and office staff
Strong communication and accurate report completion
Troubleshoot electrical issues using a variety of testing devices
Properly maintain and take care of equipment
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds
Must be able to push and pull items greater than 40 pounds, as needed
Ability to safely use and climb a ladder and reach a height of at least 12 feet
Ability to work comfortably at a height greater than 12 feet
Constant walking, standing, carrying/handling objects, climbing ladders and eye/hand/foot coordination

Preferred

1-2 years experience in Testing & Inspection
Knowledge of NFPA 25 codes
Knowledge of NFPA 72, 13, and 2001
Fire alarm and/or sprinkler licensing are preferred, or will be required to obtain within first 6 months of employment
NICET Alarm Systems 1 & 2 or Inspection/Testing 1 & 2 Certification(s)
Comfortable utilizing mobile electronics (smartphone, tablet, etc.) to complete and transmit inspection documents
Ability to coordinate and communicate inspection deficiencies and the service(s) required to correct found deficiencies
Capability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and AHJs in a professional and educational manner
One or more years' experience inspecting fire sprinkler or alarm systems
Working knowledge of backflow inspections, troubleshooting, and report documentation
Experience in Fire Extinguisher inspection procedures
Experience in Fire Pump procedures and flow testing
Enthusiasm for technology and improving processes
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
Low Voltage License
