Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and ammonia refrigeration systems
Monitor and operate ammonia refrigeration equipment, ensuring compliance with PSM/RMP and safety standards
Repair and maintain production equipment and facilities during assigned production shift in order to meet budget levels in quality and quantity
Maintain assigned paperwork
Complete assigned tasks and special projects
Promotes and exhibits strong Food Safety and Quality practices
Promotes and exhibits strong sustainability practices
Promotes and exhibits strong housekeeping practices
Must report Safety, Food Safety, and Quality, Sustainability and Housekeeping problems to direct supervisor immediately
Actively participate in teams and on projects to improve the metrics for given area of responsibility
Assist Autonomous Maintenance process in plant
Perform other duties as assigned
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions, minimizing downtime
Complete required documentation for maintenance activities and regulatory compliance
Support production by responding quickly to service calls and equipment failures
Participate in safety training and emergency response drills
Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure operational efficiency
In order to be qualified for this position you must be able to achieve the RETA CARO certification within 18 months of employment with General Mills

Qualification

Required

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred
2+ years of industrial maintenance experience; ammonia refrigeration experience strongly preferred
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
Proficient in English
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
Skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, ammonia troubleshooting and repair of production equipment
Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of PLC operation, electrical components and systems troubleshooting, including use of a multimeter
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
In order to be qualified for this position you must be able to achieve the RETA CARO certification within 18 months of employment with General Mills

Preferred

CARO (Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator) certification preferred but not required at time of hire; must obtain CARO certification within 18 months as a condition of employment
Knowledge of PSM/RMP, OSHA, and EPA regulations related to ammonia systems preferred
Basic shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, presses, etc) preferred
Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred
