Responsibilities
Ensures appropriate setup of surgery cases include calibration before procedures
Proactively reviews surgery schedules a day ahead to ensure adequate equipment
Rotates as part of on call team for afterhours and weekend emergencies
Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment
Moves equipment to/from perioperative areas
Cleans and restocks all anesthesia carts and equipment
Contributes to timely OR turnover by ensuring anesthesia equipment is ready for next case
Manages anesthesia equipment including identification and removal of any malfunctioning equipment
Disinfects equipment according to policy
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or California High School Proficiency Certificate
Completion of an Anesthesia Technician training program
One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience performing anesthesia services on human patients may substitute for the completion of an Anesthesia Technician training program
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certificate prior to the first day of employment and maintain it thereafter
Knowledge of the machinery, equipment and supplies utilized for the provision of anesthesia
Knowledge of sterile techniques, principles of asepsis, biologic hazards and standard precautions
Ability to maintain and organize the anesthesia environment, equipment, and supplies to facilitate department functions
Ability to provide peri-operative technical support to the anesthesia professional staff for delivery of safe patient care
Ability to effectively communicate with medical health care workers and others
Ability to provide and promote excellence in customer service for both internal and external customers
Ability to work cooperatively with others
Benefits
Educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification.
Bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.
