Responsibilities
Assisting veterinarians with the preparation and management of service flow
Client interaction, which includes handling, monitoring, and discharging patients
Provide instruction to veterinary students, interns and occasionally residents, in technical skills and procedures
Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, students, and clinicians
Coordinate patient flow, assuring cases receive efficient, quality care throughout their entire visit
Assist with scheduling, set-up and completion of all nursing care and procedures needed by patients using auxiliary services throughout CUHA
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA/CVTEA accredited institution approved by the NYS Department of Education with at least 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
NYS licensure or eligibility to be licensed
Knowledge of basic infection control practices and the ability to adhere to and enforce those practices
Experience in the use of various disinfectants and proper procedures
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
Must communicate well with others in a timely and professional manner
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and often demanding environment, while paying close attention to details and demonstrating a high level of initiative
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including the ability to move/lift 50 lbs. or more with assistance, the ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to kneel and remain in a steady position during procedures or treatment of animals
Preferred
Two or more years of experience as a licensed veterinary technician, familiar with sports medicine and physical rehabilitation
