Transcat is a leading calibration and compliance services provider in North America, seeking a Calibration Technician III. The role involves performing calibration work independently, managing workloads, and developing calibration skills while ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Responsibilities

Perform calibration work with little to no supervision

Conduct independent research when necessary

Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager

Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques

Maintain calibration standards

Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made

Read and interpret labs’ scopes of accreditation

Work effectively with lab support staff

Working knowledge and competency in six (6) disciplines and expert in two (2) disciplines preferred

Perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer onsite setting

Work at customer on-sites with little to no direction

Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards

Other duties as assigned

Travel requirement: up to 50% of work schedule

Required

Minimum of four (4) years commercial calibration experience preferred

Calibration Technicians at this level typically can calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust higher-level equipment across a minimum of six (6) disciplines, with expert knowledge in two (2) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional or Pressure)

Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with Transcat's technician skills progression matrix

Capable of completing work independently within the lab or onsite at a customer location, with limited or no guidance

Completion of a professional CCT or CMT certification is desired for this role

Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Excellent attention to detail

Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes

Ability to take direction and learn from feedback

Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team

3+ years driving experience with a valid driver's license

Associates degree from college or technical school, or four+ (4+) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience working within ISO 17025 and the ability to create, edit and maintain uncertainty budgets with an extensive understanding of statistics
