Responsibilities

Business development to support our region’s planning and design efforts of transit and rail facilities, including passenger stations, support buildings, and yard/maintenance facilities
Coordinate with structural, MEP, and civil disciplines, and work closely with project managers, engineers, and client representatives throughout all project phases
Manage subconsultants and internal design teams, ensuring coordinated, timely, and technically robust deliverables
Interpret and apply WMATA, MDOT MTA, and VRE design standards, building codes, and client requirements
Participate in client meetings, public presentations, and stakeholder engagement processes
Oversee production from conceptual design through construction documents and construction administration
Conduct and oversee QA/QC reviews of architectural design deliverables

Required

Registered Architect (RA) or AIA professional membership in DC, Maryland, or Virginia (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
Minimum 15 years of architectural experience, with a strong focus on transit, rail, or transportation infrastructure
Proven experience working with agencies such as WMATA, VRE, MDOT MTA, or Amtrak on projects including stations, operations centers, or maintenance facilities
Strong knowledge of regional building codes, ADA, NFPA, and relevant WMATA or state agency design criteria
Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills
Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and mentor project teams in a collaborative environment

Preferred

Experience with federally funded infrastructure or Design-Build project delivery
Familiarity with NEPA, FTA, or FRA project requirements
LEED accreditation or strong interest in sustainable infrastructure design
