Ardent Health is seeking a full-time Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team in Quitman, TX. The role involves assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring their progress, and performing various medical tasks under the supervision of nursing and medical staff.

Responsibilities

Works under the limited supervision of nursing and medical staff and with full proficiency to perform all duties of a PCT II, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs
Observes patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to the Registered Nurse or other medical staff
Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests
Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties
Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood
Additionally, assists in providing treatments to patients, performs technical procedures such as feeding tube and catheter administration, suture/staple removal, splinting of extremities, and performs ECGs as ordered
Coordinates daily activities for the assigned unit to include general clerical and administrative support, and participates in performance improvement activities to enhance and maintain personal and departmental qualifications and standards of performance

Required

High School diploma or equivalent
Completion of approved CNA certification required, or may be in the senior year of nursing school with less than one semester to complete the nursing program
Must maintain active certification within the State of Texas
Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross-trained and cross competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function)
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
Training, education, and competencies are completed annually for any additional duties required

Preferred

5 years' experience in acute or long-term care
Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy
