Assistant Teaching Professor - School of Human Development and Family Science
The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Human Development and Family Science. This non-tenure-track role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising lab courses, and advising students in the field of early childhood education.
Research
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in HDFS, primarily in the area of early childhood
Teach in online formats
Supervise lab courses
Coordinate and collaborate with other instructors
Advise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students
Collaborate with area schools/agencies
Provide University and professional service
Qualification
Required
An earned doctorate in Human Development and Family Science, Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field
Direct experience and/or applied work in early care and education settings
Evidence of successful teaching experience
Evidence of strong research skills and aligned scholarship or demonstrated potential for developing a scholarly research program
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from all backgrounds, programs, and colleges
Committed to campus engagement
Preferred
Three years or more of teaching or administrative experience in an early childhood setting
Developmental perspectives on risk and resilience
Special education or early intervention experience or credentials
Early literacy credentials (i.e., LETRS certificate, passed Foundations of Reading Exam)
