Responsibilities
Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and maintain custom Magento extensions, modules, and themes to enhance the functionality and appearance of our ecommerce platform
Work on server-side logic, database schema, and API integrations to ensure seamless data flow and efficient performance of the ecommerce platform
Identify and implement performance optimizations to enhance the speed, scalability, and security of our Magento-based ecommerce website
Customize and integrate third-party extensions, APIs, and services to meet specific business requirements and improve the overall user experience
Conduct rigorous testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of website issues to maintain a stable and error-free ecommerce environment
Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, and compliance with established coding standards
Implement and maintain security best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards
Use version control systems, such as Git, to manage codebase and collaborate effectively with the development team
Work closely with front-end developers, UI/UX designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver outstanding ecommerce experiences
Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in ecommerce, backend development, and Magento to propose innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in back end web development, with a focus on eCommerce platforms and Magento
Extensive hands-on experience with Magento 2 development, including custom module development and theme customization
Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and related backend technologies commonly used in ecommerce development
Knowledge of ecommerce best practices, such as catalog management, order processing, and payment gateways integration
Familiarity with front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to facilitate effective collaboration with front-end developers
Experience with performance optimization, caching mechanisms, and website security in the context of ecommerce platforms
Understanding of RESTful APIs and integration of third-party services into Magento
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
Preferred
Magento Certification (e.g., Magento Certified Developer) is a plus
Experience with other ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce) and their customization
Knowledge of cloud technologies and hosting environments for scalable ecommerce solutions
Familiarity with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum) and project management tools
Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in the Magento community
