Responsibilities
Manage challenging building enclosure consulting projects
Act as a senior client manager for key clients
Grow the business through business development activities
Review the work of other BPL staff members for technical accuracy and business suitability
Mentor and train BPL staff on technical and business issues
Prepare budgets and proposals for building enclosure services on a wide range of building and client types
Review project construction documents for technical accuracy and suitability
Evaluate existing buildings to identify enclosure problems and develop proper repair designs
Prepare reports to summarize methodologies, observations, conclusions, and recommendations
Attend design phase, pre-construction, pre-installation, and construction progress meetings and provide technical expertise
Conduct regular walk-through observations of building enclosure construction for compliance with contract documents, manufacturers’ instructions, and industry standards
Periodically travel outside of the Detroit metro area for project assignments
Qualification
Required
Bachelors' degree and/or technical diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related discipline, or equivalent of industry experience
10+ years of experience in building enclosure design and/or construction related work
Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
Understanding of the consulting engineering business
Excellent leadership qualities to build relationships and collaborate within a Team, internally and externally
Strong project management skills, including project budgets, scheduling, and Team management
Knowledge of construction assemblies for a variety of construction systems
Expertise in building enclosure technical issues
Strong business development and marketing knowledge
Industry recognized presentation skills
Professional demeanor
Passion for learning and working as part of a Team
Attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines
Manages own time and exercises rational judgement
Works independently to deliver successful projects
