Responsibilities

Research and analyze system design drawings, specifications, manuals, and other data to determine Systems readiness for deployment, from a system safety perspective

Evaluate life cycle test, operation, maintenance and other performance phases of equipment, components, and systems from a system safety perspective

Investigate potential system failures and life cycle hazards and make recommendations to ensure safe and effective operation and deployment and mitigate failure effect and frequency

Required

Ability to obtain a Secret DoD clearance

Bachelor's Degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math field

Ten (10) years of system safety engineering experience, particularly with respect to hazard analysis and failure mode analysis

Experience performing software system safety analysis

Strong understanding of military system safety standards including MIL-STD-882E and NAVSEA 5100.12-M

Preferred

Master's Degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math field

Fifteen (15) years of system safety engineering experience, particularly with respect to hazard analysis and failure mode analysis

Five (5) years of experience performing software system safety analysis

Engineering experience specifically with Navy and/or undersea warfare systems and weapons systems such as torpedoes, mine hunting and warfare systems, and unmanned underseas vehicles (UUVs)
