Responsibilities
Advanced level in-depth safety inspection work as the Team Leader of a 2 man bridge inspection team that conducts inspection on all types of structures in North Carolina
Work in an outside environment at considerable heights, exposure to snakes, spiders, insects, and poisonous plants
Safety shoes will be required as a condition of employment
Responsible for carrying out in-depth inspections on bridges, light standards, culverts, pipes, sign supports, & overhead walkways and preparation of reports detailing conditions found during the inspection process. These reports are used in an evaluation process that determines the structural integrity and the capability of structures to support loads imposed on them by the traveling public and/or natural forces
Training new inspectors, scheduling, and plans the team's activities in conformance with bridge priorities
Leading a team of inspectors in the field during inspections
Scheduling and coordinating inspections, personnel, vendors, stakeholders, maintenance of traffic
Operating access equipment and other equipment to perform inspections
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in conducting field inspections and preparing inspection reports
Must have NBIS Bridge Inspection Course
NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course with Refresher Training within the last 5 years
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in bridge inspections with a minimum of 1 year service as a qualified NBIS Team Leader
Strong knowledge of NBIS and have advanced writing and communication skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Valid driver's license
A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
Preferred
NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges and Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures Courses
EIT or P.E. license
