Aerospace & Defense Engineering Manager - West Coast

Responsibilities
Manage, develop and provide oversight of the engineering team
Oversee design, development, testing, and manufacturing of high technology thermal components and systems for the aerospace and defense industry
Manage a team of engineers that focus heavily on New Product Introduction
Collaborate with other functional departments, customers or stakeholders while presenting project updates and findings
Hire and train new engineers while also being responsible for their performance evaluation and professional development
Plan and execute NPI projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on time, while meeting or exceeding project deadlines and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
Review technical aspects of projects, identifying potential risks, proposing solutions, and ensuring all safety and regulatory standards are met
Foster a culture of design for manufacturing and assembly
Assign resources to programs and prioritize tasks for team members
Communicate clear performance expectations and hold individuals accountable
Assess development/training opportunities within the department and cross-departmental
Mentor team members in personal and career development
Handle Personnel Issues (including timecard, PTO requests, etc.)
Identify, track and present key metrics to Executive Leadership team
Manage process improvement implementation/updates
Facilitate risk identification and mitigation throughout program lifecycles
Participate in resource planning for proposals (cost/schedule/resource loading)
Track impacts of design/process decisions across departments Measure and report on performance of key improvement processes
Monitor MRB decisions and ensure timely completion of repair work instructions
Participate in root cause/corrective action activities (for NCRs that are related to design/analysis issues)
Support customer visits and calls for new business development. Make effective presentations on products and capabilities of the group
Perform all functions of the job while adhering to established quality policies and procedures

Qualification
Required
Excellent attention to detail
Demonstrated management experience
Software proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Solidworks or similar CAD software and web-based applications
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands
Effective and efficient organizational and planning skills
Self-starter with the ability to see projects through with a can-do attitude
Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
Leadership style that empowers and fosters team member improvement
Ability to be strong when strength is needed and flexible when flexibility is needed
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or equivalent Engineering
5-8 years of experience in technical team management
Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred
Experience with CNC machining, brazing and metal finishing desired
Experience with military specifications and AS9100 desired
2-3 years of experience in program and/or project management desired
