Sr. Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

Design and develop electrical systems for small to large and simple to complex projects in life sciences / pharmaceutical / research, multi-family residential, health care, K-12 and higher education, commercial, and industrial facilities, including building power, lighting, fire alarm, communications, security, IT/AV and other low voltage systems
Coordinate with multiple disciplines and act as the lead Electrical engineer to ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule, while managing the project’s Electrical team, including directing and overseeing the efforts of junior engineers / production staff to produce contract documents that convey the electrical systems designs
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to their professional development
Complete assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client-specified criteria and applicable codes and standards
Conduct QA/QC review of drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards; review junior team members' work for quality and training requirements
Collaborate with architects, contractors (when appropriate), and other engineers to integrate electrical systems into overall building design. Communicating with other disciplines to ensure project documents are properly coordinated
Perform code reviews, calculations, simulations, and analyses to size and select equipment and optimize system performance
Organize and conduct site visits and inspections to collect data and assess existing electrical systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide recommendations for improvements
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and performance evaluations to establish project direction and support design development decisions for electrical systems
Use computer aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents, including written specifications
Participate in project meetings, offering expertise and guidance to ensure projects meet quality standards and deadlines
Respond to client questions and comments, review contractor submittals, and provide clarifications and field observations during construction
Drive innovation through continuous improvement initiatives and research into emerging technologies relevant to electrical systems
Act as a subject matter expert on electrical engineering principles and practices

Required

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain
B.S. In Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
Minimum 15 years design experience with consulting architectural/engineering firm or design/build contractor designing building power (normal and standby/emergency), lighting, and fire alarm systems; knowledge of communications, security, EV charging, solar power, IT/AV and/or other low voltage systems is a plus
Proven track record of successful project management from concept through construction and close-out
Proficiency in engineering analysis tools (SKM, etc.); proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) a plus
Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to solve complex engineering problems and optimize designs for performance, cost, and constructability
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and present technical information to stakeholders
Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and similar software
Thorough understanding of the architectural and engineering industry, including the applicable building codes, Federal, State, and local laws and regulations that pertain to the industry
Some travel may be required to meet project and training requirements
