Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine-Endocrinology

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a full-time Thyroid Specialist at the rank of Assistant Professor within the Division of Endocrinology. This role emphasizes excellence in thyroid and general endocrine care, teaching, and engagement in the academic mission, with responsibilities including comprehensive patient care and supervision of medical trainees.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive inpatient and/or outpatient endocrinology care, including management of thyroid disorders (such as thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and autoimmune thyroid disease), diabetes, pituitary, adrenal, and metabolic conditions
Develop and grow thyroid-specific clinical services, including ultrasound evaluation and biopsy procedures, as appropriate to training and experience
Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and didactic settings
Engage in departmental and divisional quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives
Contribute to curriculum development, clinical training, and academic programming
Participate in departmental and divisional meetings, faculty development activities, and other academic initiatives

Qualification

Required

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board certified or board eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism
Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas

Preferred

Clinical experience in thyroid disease management, thyroid ultrasound, and/or fine-needle aspiration
Experience in an academic medical center or teaching environment
Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, clinical research, or quality improvement projects
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
