Chief Compliance Officer

Responsibilities
Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the global compliance program and its related activities to help prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct
Manages day-to-day operation of the global ethics and compliance program, global data privacy functions, trade compliance, investigations, training, anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering and enterprise risk management
Lead and manage company-wide enterprise risk assessment program
Periodically reviews, benchmarks, and updates the Company’s Code of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance
Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Internal Audit, Human Resources, Information Security) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution
Consults with attorneys on a global basis to resolve difficult legal compliance issues
Responds to alleged employee misconduct received via the ethics hotline and other channels, by following internal investigation protocols and guidance
Acts to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the Company are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved
Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future
Provides reports on a regular basis to keep the Board of Directors and senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts
Institutes and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting (a) use of the compliance hotline; (b) heightened awareness of the Code of Conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures
Develops an effective compliance training program for all employees and tracks completion for reporting requirements
Monitors the performance of the ethics and compliance program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness
Manages systems to ensure compliance with anti-bribery/anti-corruption and trade sanctions regulations, and counsels the business on such requirements
Lead and manage global compliance team
Qualification
Required
JD or equivalent degree from an accredited university and admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
15 years of experience in practice of law and/or ethics and compliance roles
Compliance experience at a publicly traded company with global operations and/or large global law firm
Domain expertise in some of the following: human rights laws, import regulations and trade sanctions, data privacy laws, and anti-bribery law
Strong research, writing, analytical and oral communication skills
Sound judgment, problem-solving and client management skills
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
Ability to be flexible and adapt to a dynamic workload
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Strong sense of integrity and appreciation for confidentiality issues
Ability to work with cross-functional teams
Excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
