Responsibilities

Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to operate a mammography unit to provide images and complex data for determining medical treatment/diagnosis

Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms and manage patient workflow for mammography patients

Perform and document all quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) per DPH, MQSA, and ACR guidelines

Responsible for all accreditation and state inspection processes

Maintian daily records on all mammography exmainations and callback procedures

Maintain and update medical audit analysis in coordination with the lead interpreting physician

Monitor recommendations for biopsies to ensure follow-up procedures have been performed and maintain pathological results

Ensure previous mammography studies from outside facilities are available for radiologist interpretation

Maintain accurate records of procedures performed by technologists and mammograms interpreted by radiologists

Maintain a professional and clean environment for the Mammography Department at all times

Monitor Synpase RIS schedule for all procedures; setup and explain procedures; position patients for each anatomical view specified using immobilization and protective devices required; report any changes in patient’s condition

Ensure customer service is provided in a timely manner

Ensures all procedures in mammography are interpreted in a timely manner

Consult with supervisor or manager for problem solving and/or changes in procedures

Report incidents in a timely manner not exceeding 24 hours

Coordinate the daily cleaning, periodical preventive maintenance of the equipment in X-ray

Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating of mammography protocols and procedures

Perform periodical evaluation of mammography protocols and procedures, under the direction of the Radiologists, to determine quality assurance and/or additional projections requirements

Serve as a mentor and resource to train less experienced technologists

Maintain a safe working environment

Ensure the Mammography Departments complies with all State and Federal regulations, as applicable to the areas of responsibility

Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate late add-on patients

Adhere to the Radiology and Clinic Policy and Procedures and the Code of Conduct

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Required

Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology

Registered Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R). Must be certified in Mammography

Minimum of 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist

Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions

Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills

Must demonstrate excellent customer service and satisfaction skills

Effective coordination of multiple projects

Must be knowledgeable in all Radiology procedures and scheduling on Synapse RIS

Uses analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem solving

Must have excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, and telephone etiquette

Excellent computer skills – PC, MS office including data entry in RIS scheduling

Be able to lift up to 50 lb
