Responsibilities
Assist the surgeon(s) by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques for procedures performed in the Operating Room
Provide patient care in the clinical setting
Responsible for the care, handling and maintenance of basic surgical equipment and instrumentation
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of surgical technologist program
Strong working knowledge of patient care and basic human needs throughout the life span
In depth knowledge of medical terminology
Strong working knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes
Knowledge of computer programs used in perioperative services
Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team
Demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods, procedures and techniques resulting from departmental or organization change
Adapts quickly and easily to change and adjusted behavior and approach to work when necessary to achieve goals
Certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST within 1 year of date of hire/transfer
BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
