Senior Surveyor (multiple openings)

Responsibilities
Examine and report on vessels and other marine structures during and after construction relative to compliance with the applicable requirements for maintaining the vessel in classification based on ABS standards
Ensure compliance with associated statutory and special service requirements related to Safety of Life at Sea, Loadline, Tonnage, Cargo Gear, and Pollution Prevention Certification
Act as a professional specialist for the organization in the review and establishment of related rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles and processes including at the request of the Assistant Chief Surveyor-Corporate Class including Vessel Incident Report investigations, Outlier vessels, targeted ship, surveyor activity monitoring verification, Port State Control incident record reviews, remote surveys and remote inspection techniques
Subject matter expert on liquified gas containment systems and alternative fuel Rules and training requirements
Maintain digital Corporate Class survey files for above duties in an orderly and up-to-date manner in area of responsibility
Arrange and coordinate quarterly vessel incident meetings
Maintain active awareness of new methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities and makes recommendations for changes in the survey after construction Rules and surveying processes and safety programs as warranted by such developments
Recommend new approaches to problems encountered and makes changes in methods, Rules, procedures or design where necessary
Provide leadership, guidance and facilitates training to lower level and/or less experienced surveyors
Promote the services and capabilities of ABS to present and potential customers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
Three (3) years' experience as a Surveyor in the maritime industry with an IACS member Classification Society
50% domestic travel within 100 miles of Spring, TX worksite location
