Responsibilities
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual operating reports (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, and Roll-forward Schedules)
Coordinate with property managers and construction personnel to manage accruals and address accounting issues
Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide detailed explanations for discrepancies
Assist with the preparation of quarterly forecasts
Prepare and record journal entries
Review Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts for accuracy and ensure they reconcile with the detailed general ledger (GL)
Perform variance analysis comparing current year results with the prior year and current year budget, resolving outstanding issues
Prepare quarterly and yearly capital account roll-forward schedules for all business partners
Perform account analysis for assigned cost centers and reconcile intercompany accounts to ensure financial statements are accurate and comply with GAAP or the Tax Basis of Accounting
Reconcile all Due to and Due from accounts for parent and subsidiary entities
Track, analyze, and record investment transactions, including capital waterfalls, capital contributions, capital distributions, and preferred interest calculations
Perform monthly financial report analysis and collaborate with project teams and department managers to review project outcomes
Conduct bank reconciliations and manage the accounting for fixed assets, including the computation and recording of depreciation expenses
Prepare state quarterly and annual statements by assembling necessary data
Ensure compliance with state and federal tax filing requirements by staying updated on regulations, calculating estimated tax payments, and preparing data for quarterly and annual tax filings
Respond to financial inquiries by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial data
Provide financial advice by applying principles and practices to operational issues, offering recommendations for improvements
Prepare special reports by analyzing variances, preparing budgets, and developing forecasts
Stay informed on financial regulations and best practices through workshops, professional publications, networking, and participating in professional organizations
Complete related financial tasks as needed to contribute to the overall mission of the finance and accounting department
Qualification
Required
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization
Ability to interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Sage 300 is required
Master's degree (M.A./B.S.) in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent
Two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
