Facilities Process Engineering Manager

Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America is expanding operations in De Soto, Kansas, to build the world’s largest lithium-ion battery factory. The Facilities Process Engineering Manager will lead process system projects and ensure reliable operations while supporting production and fostering collaboration within the engineering team.

Responsibilities

Lead all phases of process system projects including design, construction, renovation, and commissioning while ensuring compliance with EPA, OSHA, NFPA, and other codes
Prepare project plans, budgets, and schedules; review technical submittals and manage contractors/consultants to deliver on engineering objectives
Coordinate facility projects, system upgrades, and equipment relocations with cross-functional teams, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules
Conduct feasibility studies, preliminary assessments, and regulatory compliance checks while securing permits and liaising with authorities
Serve as system owner, monitoring performance, improving reliability, and supporting process engineering during operation Identify improvements and support projects to implement these
Develop SOPs, troubleshoot facility systems using SCADA/HMIs, and implement corrective actions to improve system performance
Review designs, forecasts, and materials planning while maintaining facility documentation and cost controls
Supervise and develop the facilities process engineering team, ensuring compliance with ASME and other applicable standards
Build relationships with suppliers and engineers across sites to drive performance, audits, and best practice sharing

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or related
Skills and experience necessary to satisfy the required 'Essential Duties'
8+ years of experience in engineering and/or production in manufacturing
Excited in leading the people, managing process, equipment, material and utilities
5+ years of leadership experience
Ability and proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical information to non-technical audiences
Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize work, and deliver quality results
Able to make appropriate decisions when confronted with obstacles, think about them before acting, and consistently resolve issues in creative and effective ways
A strong work ethic with a 'get the job done' approach and consistently delivers excellent customer service, both internally and externally
Collaborative nature with strong team building skills and willing to learn from and accept guidance from others
Flexibility, which is critical for a high-performance environment
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

Preferred

Ideal candidates will have supported large facilities, preferably in advanced manufacturing environments
Able to respond quickly to potentially critical situations, perform rapid, accurate assessments, identify causes of failures, determine appropriate corrective actions, and implement these corrections promptly to mitigate the effects of system upsets
Resilient, self-motivated and able to work well under pressure
Experience managing multi-discipline projects
Experience with distillation, water & wastewater treatment systems
Superb written and spoken communication, including executive-level presentations – but genuine above all. This role is a critical leadership role, with communications affecting a large organization
Demonstrated experience with energy conservation programs
Demonstrated comfort in multi-national environments
