Senior LevelCareer Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Senior Backend Engineer - Onramp - Crypto. The role involves designing and scaling fintech and crypto systems, managing payment orchestration, and building a real-time risk engine to ensure smooth fiat and crypto flows.

Responsibilities
Own payment orchestration for bank rails (ACH, RTP, FedNow, SEPA, Open Banking) and cards (Apple Pay, Google Pay) with idempotent, fault-tolerant APIs and webhook processing
Integrate third-party providers (Plaid, TrueLayer, Tink, Stripe, Checkout.com, Adyen, Chainalysis, TRM, Travel Rule networks) behind clean, reliable interfaces
Build a real-time risk engine (<300ms) combining rules, ML scores, device signals, sanctions/KYC hits, and blockchain analytics to drive GREEN/AMBER/RED outcomes
Implement KYC/AML primitives (CIP/CDD, sanctions/PEP screening, Travel Rule data, audit-ready journaling) in close partnership with Compliance
Ship a double-entry ledger and reconciliation system tying together processors, bank statements, and on-chain balances with daily break detection and automated remediation
Deliver crypto to user wallets safely and fast (e.g., USDC/SOL), managing hot-wallet flow, transaction creation, confirmations, and operational safeguards
Raise the bar on reliability — SLOs, circuit breakers, retries, DLQs, shadow traffic, and canary releases
Instrument everything with traces, metrics, and logs. Build internal ops & compliance dashboards and participate in on-call for a 24/7 system
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, mobile, compliance, risk, and finance to take features from concept to production
Qualification
Required
Experienced Onramp specialist with a track record building ramps end-to-end
Back-end expert in high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems, payments, or fintech risk
Fluent in Rust, Go, or TypeScript/Node/Python with strong systems skills
Database expert — deep in Postgres (transactions, indexing, locking), familiar with Redis and event/OLAP stores (Kafka/Redpanda, ClickHouse)
API craftsman — gRPC/REST best practices, versioning, pagination, authN/Z, idempotency, and webhook consumers
Event-driven thinker — designs with queues, outbox/inbox, and exactly-once-effective behavior
Security-minded — key management, HSM/KMS, secrets hygiene, least privilege, and auditability
Ownership-driven, comfortable with ambiguity, and thrives on iteration
Preferred
Payments: ACH/NACHA returns, 3DS/SCA, AVS/CVV, BIN analysis, chargebacks, Apple/Google Pay
Open Banking: Plaid, TrueLayer, Tink; account auth & bank-transfer initiation
Risk/Fraud: rule engines, device fingerprinting, feature stores, Plaid Beacon/Signal, dispute workflows
Compliance: sanctions/PEP screening, Travel Rule networks, SAR/STR integration
Crypto Delivery: Solana RPCs, USDC flows, wallet ops, Chainalysis/TRM integrations
Accounting: double-entry ledgers, reconciliation jobs, regulatory/tax reporting (1099-DA/DAC8)
Infra: AWS, Terraform, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana
