This role involves working with the cath lab team to provide exceptional care, preparing surgical areas, managing instruments, and ensuring sterile techniques during procedures.

Responsibilities
Assists in maintaining the sterile field under supervision
Demonstrates an understanding of the procedure and supports surgical team needs
Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
Scrubs, gowns, and gloves appropriately
Sets up sterile tables with instruments and supplies under guidance
Performs instrument and sponge counts with the circulator
Passes instruments during surgery
Aids in cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization
Supports terminal cleaning of rooms and preparation for the next procedure
May retrieve and transport medications (no preparation or administration)
Ensures all instruments are decontaminated and stored using the appropriate processes, solutions, supplies and equipment
Completes the necessary procedures for sterilization per manufacturer instructions and hospital procedures
Responsible for preparing and documenting sterilization process charts, logs and records per hospital and regulatory guidelines
Completes high level disinfectant process education annually, as applicable
Qualification
Required
BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 60 days of hire
Preferred
NCCT-TS-C (Tech in Surgery-Certified) OR AST-CST (Certified Surgical Tech)
Experience in a direct patient care or clinical support role (e.g., medical assistant, patient care tech, EMT, or similar)
Knowledge of preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies
6 months experience in angiography preferred
Experience with PTA and PTCA, laser PTA/PTCA, and intra aortic balloon pump
