Echocardiography Technologist

Responsibilities

Performs ECHO procedures according to protocols of departmental policies. Compiles pertinent patient information prior to performing the study
Ensures that ECHO images, measurements and calculations are obtained and ready for physician’s interpretation
Confers with physician, department head and/or other sonographers to obtain the best information with views, measurements and calculations
Demonstrates abnormal findings and gives additional information to enable the cardiologist to better evaluate the ECHO
Enters procedural charges into the computer system during the shift in which the procedure was performed
Explains and educates patients to procedures and assists with patient care within the department
Perform other miscellaneous duties as required by the department head and Medical Director

EchocardiographyCardiac SonographyBasic Life SupportBasic Arrhythmia CoursePatient Care

Required

Six months experience in performing ECHOs
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
Completion of the Basic Arrhythmia Course

Preferred

Certification by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers for Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers preferred
Credential in echocardiography in one of the following: Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within one year of the date of hire
