MWH Constructors is a global leader in heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, currently seeking a Senior Counsel to support company operations out of their Broomfield, CO corporate headquarters. Responsibilities

Responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance on day-to-day corporate activities and special situations
Analyzes legal matters arising in connection with project pursuit and execution and provides advice and counsel to project management and Senior executives
Participates in evaluation, negotiation and integration of mergers and acquisitions
Support the legal and risk management functions for the organization to include contracts, licensing, insurance and bonding
Negotiates, writes and executes agreements and contracts on behalf of the company
Researches and advises on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different contracts/agreements; anticipates unique legal issues that could impact the company
Negotiates various types of contracts, teaming agreements, prime contracts, subcontracts and joint venture agreements
Be an active leader for construction and/or engineering claims and disputes with contractors, owners and subcontractors
Supports special projects, such as research, transactional documentation, and supports changes in guidelines, policies, procedures and presentations
Supports in implementing MWH legal and risk policies, processes and procedures
Provides/facilitates training to job site leadership on legal topics

Required

J.D. degree and license to practice law
Minimum 8+ years of related work experience within an engineering or construction company or a law firm in the construction and/or engineering field
Requires a comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and the negotiation of prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, project management agreements, parent company guarantees, and related contracts
Proven construction claims preparations, negotiations and settlement skills
Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues
Strong understanding of construction insurance and bonding
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
Strong written and oral communication skills and an ability to interact with and provide counsel to senior management
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization's legal department and across all businesses
Possess a practical, commercial and solution oriented, problem-solving approach
