Electrocardiograph Tech - Galveston (Casual Appointment)
The University of Texas Medical Branch is seeking an Electrocardiograph Technician to provide technical skills in obtaining electrocardiograph tracings and conducting various stress tests. The role involves preparing equipment, instructing patients, and interpreting EKG rhythms, while ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
Responsibilities
Prepares appropriate equipment and instruct patients on procedures
Traces 12 lead EKG and transmitting to the system
Enters patient information, as well as edits of electrocardiogram into the system
Interprets EKG rhythms and reports significant changes immediately to the appropriate medical personnel
Hooks up Holter monitor for patients, and obtains scan reports
Cleans of all equipment after each use and makes sure accessory items are properly stored
Participates in team setting to do nuclear medicine pharmacology tests and treadmill exercise tests
Prepares paperwork and traces EKG’s during nuclear procedures
Transmits final paperwork to the appropriate department
Hooks up event monitors and prepares paperwork
Performs routine maintenance work on equipment for proper operation
Adheres to internal controls established for department
Performs related duties required
Qualification
Required
High School or equivalent and related experience required
EKG certified preferred
