Employee Benefits Associate Attorney
CPS, Inc. is seeking an Employee Benefits Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will advise clients on non-ERISA benefit plans and compliance issues, while also drafting and reviewing plan documents and providing guidance on regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Advise clients on the design, operation, and compliance of non-ERISA, church, nonprofit, and public sector benefit plans
Draft and review plan documents, amendments, and related employee communications
Provide guidance on IRS and state regulatory requirements for retirement and welfare plans
Assist clients with plan governance, funding, and fiduciary issues
Support benefits-related matters in mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations
Monitor and communicate legal developments affecting non-ERISA and public sector plans
Qualification
Required
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the California Bar (or ability to become admitted)
2-6 years of experience in employee benefits law
Experience working with church plans, nonprofit plans, or governmental retirement systems
Strong understanding of the Internal Revenue Code and public plan regulations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple matters
