Responsibilities

Independently makes examinations after conferring with the radiologist to establish the examination requirements
Independently perform complex and highly specialized procedures for the various sections in the radiology department (i.e., Diagnostics, X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, Surgery and Orthopedics)
Monitors equipment status indicators to prevent damage
Prepares reports on any event or incident related to the quality of service provided by the department
Assists the supervisor in developing quality control procedures for new radiologic examinations as they are introduced into the Radiology Department and modifies existing procedures as the need arises
Schedule, receive, and review requests from physicians and other health care providers for examinations
Develop, maintain, and review Quality Improvement (QI) and Quality Control (QC) programs serving as a consultant to other medical treatment facilities (MTF departments) that perform radiologic procedures
Instruct medical, professional, and paraprofessional personnel in the theoretical and practical aspects of quality assurance and quality control in the Radiology Department as it relates to Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Radiology Certification: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75
Must have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education
Must be certified as radiographers in their field
One year of specialized experience which includes performing diagnostic CT examinations/procedures, administering contrast for CT exams/procedures and maintaining proper equipment
Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as diagnostic radiology/radiography
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirement is at least 100%
If using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs
