Research Engineer - Orthopedic Research - Biomotion Lab

The Biomotion Lab is seeking a Research Engineer to engage in groundbreaking research related to human movement and orthopedic treatments, collaborating with a team of scientists and engineers to conduct experiments and analyze data.

Responsibilities
Work with our team of experts to prepare study participants for data collection, ensuring a comfortable and engaging experience
Engage in collecting biomotion data utilizing cutting-edge motion capture systems, wearable sensors, and advanced imaging techniques
Contribute to biomechanical and imaging data processing, employing specialized software and tools
Collaborate closely with researchers and faculty, supporting ongoing projects and aiding in data processing to extract meaningful insights
Participate actively in experiment design and execution, contributing your insights and ideas
Maintain laboratory equipment and foster a safe, conducive working environment
Organize and maintain detailed records of experimental protocols, data files, and participant information
Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation, and engaging presentations for research meetings and publications
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer and information science or other applied sciences
Two years experience in applied research or related field. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement
Ability to undertake complex and challenging projects
Excellent research and problem solving skills
Ability to use computer systems or specified equipment that is essential for the related areas
Ability to interact with scientists and researchers from other disciplines is crucial
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents
This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas
Preferred
Master's degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
Coding skills in MATLAB
Experience in experimental biomechanics
Strong written and oral communication skills
Previous experience with CT/MR image processing
Previous experience with inverse kinematics analysis software, such as Visual 3D
Interest and previous experience in biomechanics research and human movement analysis
