Engineering Specialist - Quality

Responsibilities
Act as single point of contact for quality within assigned area for all other internal and external contacts (production teams, Product Development, STA, suppliers, MP&L, etc)
Coordinate during quality concerns containment actions, dock holds, special checks to eliminate any impact to customer. Document and control error proofing checks, internal checks, and additional containments. Keep traceability records regarding quality actions for future reference
Manage quality documentation on FTT, 8Ds, Scrap, Dock Holds, Dock Audit, BSAQ etc
Participate in Quality and Contamination audits
Prepare standard reports for Quality reviews within the plant and with other areas
Lead cross functional team initiatives in quality to achieve internal and external quality targets (leading and lagging indicators)
Lead 8D resolution of Warranty and VO concerns working together with Quality, MP&L, Machining and VO
Lead Green/ Black Belt projects within the department as appropriate
Work with QLSCM, Quality Works, OBL, CDCII, and other required systems
Lead data-driven risk assessment compilation for proper decision-making by leadership team
Apply engineering principles & analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products
Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc
Manage and direct statistical process control activities
Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis
Establish and monitor quality target levels for each build
Provide input for design and assembly concepts which will yield nominal variations
Establish critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods
Determine inspection equipment and facility requirements
Support expedited concern resolution with cross functional teams including the Quality Department, Production and Suppliers
Review internal/external suppliers for critical characteristics process compatibility
Review incoming quality concerns to maintain quality with assigned area; must have experience with initiating containment, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions. Work with production teams, product teams, STA, and suppliers to drive robust problem solving
Complete PPAP’s and support new model launches
Actively participate in forward planning, product design Forward Planning and Product Design to ensure MTC process is followed
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Experience in manufacturing engineering
Demonstrated experience in accomplishing tasks and objectives, strong organizational and conflict management skills
Proven problem solving ability
Six Sigma Green Belt certified; Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collection/ analysis)
Previous production supervision
Microsoft Office Knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint)
Some qualified candidates may be considered for various Quality roles based on experience and strengths, such as internal quality, supplier quality, warranty/ VO response, and launch
Preferred
Education: Bachelor's degree in STEM field
Experience: Previous automotive and Quality Engineering experience
Proficiency in use of problem solving tools (Six Sigma, DOE, 8D, 5 Why, etc)
FMEA, PPAP, and DOE experience preferred
Six Sigma: DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience preferred
Ergonomic analysis knowledge and experience preferred
Six Sigma Black Belt certified preferred
