Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Radiant is an El Segundo-based startup focused on building portable nuclear microreactors. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with design engineers to innovate production methods, ensuring quality and reliable delivery of the Kaleidos demonstration unit for testing in 2026.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the manufacturing and inspection process for critical components and assemblies within the Kaleidos microreactor
Partner with design engineers to develop innovative production methods for complex mechanisms and structures
Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet all design and business requirements including safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery
Develop and execute manufacturing specifications and fabrication instructions
Manage manufacturing bill-of-materials (mBOM) for components and assemblies
Identify and develop appropriate suppliers for component sourcing and fabrication
Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet evolving production requirements
Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and product quality

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in mechanical, manufacturing, or other related engineering discipline
4+ years of experience with manufacturing of mechanical products in a production environment, preferably in high-tech or energy sectors

Preferred

Master's degree from an accredited institution in mechanical, manufacturing, or other related engineering discipline
Experience with machining and ancillary operations such as milling, turning, grinding, EDM of materials
Experience with interpreting engineering drawings and models, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience with inspection systems including manual gauges and coordinate-measuring machine (CMM)
Experience with non-destructive testing/non-destructive evaluation (e.g. fluorescent penetrant inspection, radiography, eddy current)
Experience with custom machine design; electromechanical systems, motors, actuators, linear rails, bearings, lifting/rigging, etc
Experience with design of multi-component assemblies in CAD (NX or similar)
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with design and operations teams
