Responsibilities
Assesses the patient, plans individualized care and identifies expected outcome; implements and evaluates nursing interventions for patients and families; provides direct patient care according to clinical specific competencies; performs therapeutic procedures and assists with diagnostic procedures required for the care of the patient; administers medications and start IVs as ordered by the physician; receives referrals by written or phone communication from physicians, self -referrals, or colleagues; visits with patient/family by phone or in person to plan procedures, provides orientation materials and provides ongoing education as needed; informs referring physicians and patients of evaluation plans; assists with components of evaluation as necessary (blood drawing, directing patients, explaining procedures, communication with consulting services; retrieves evaluation data and arranges follow-up procedures as indicated; maintains accurate and complete medical records; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; utilizes cost effective practices In performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; communicates with the Clinical Manager on an ongoing basis regarding patient related issues, staffing issues, quality management issues and other events as the evolve; supervises clinical support professional and non-professional nursing activities by assigning tasks, reviewing and signing time sheets, approving vacation requests and sick time; assists the Manager of Clinical Operations in performing yearly evaluations, interviewing and recommending staff; ensures that all staff are properly trained and oriented to their job duties and responsibilities; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; maintains CPR Certification according to American Heart Association standards; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization values; adheres to USA Health policies and procedures including confidentiality; regular and prompt attendance the ability to work the schedule as assigned and overtime and call as required; related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the state of Alabama
Two years of directly related professional medical/surgical nursing experience
Current Alabama RN license or current Multi-State RN License in accordance with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama
