NEOGOV is seeking a Recreation and Park Intern for the Town of Ocean City, MD. This position involves assisting Recreation Program staff in running recreational programs, including planning, implementation, and customer service activities.

Responsibilities

Assists with preparation, implementation and evaluation of youth and adult sports leagues

Assistance with preparation, implementation and evaluation of tournaments

Provides facility coverage, covering the facility during irregular business hours

Assists with the supervision, registration, paperwork related to programs, camps, leagues, movies and other programs as assigned

Customer service including answering phones, taking registration, fielding questions, etc

Proposal of new recreation program, including planning, budget preparation, implementing and evaluation

Required

Must be able to think and act quickly and remain calm under emergency situations

Must be able to make decisions promptly and work unsupervised

Must have working knowledge of computers and be comfortable learning new software applications

Valid driver's license required

Driving record, drug test and background check required

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages

Ability to add; subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell
