Embedded Software Engineer, Amazon Leo Optical Inter-Satellite Link

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network, aiming to provide reliable internet connectivity to underserved locations. The Embedded Software Engineer will develop flight software and support the design and deployment of high-speed optical communication systems, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Develop highly reliable flight software, ranging from low level control to autonomous system behaviors for RTOS and/or bare-metal environments
Develop supporting test, validation, and simulation software infrastructure
Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, from requirements definition and design all the way to deployment and maintenance in orbit
Work closely with software, hardware and systems engineers to support design, build, integration, test, and deployment of high speed optical communication systems

Required

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
Experience in embedded development in C/C++/Rust/assembly and scripting development in Python
