Responsibilities

Works with all departments to develop, design, maintain and improve equipment reliability and safety
Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
Documents and tracks continuous improvement issues, progress and results
Creates, implements, maintains and improves capable production process, methods, sequences to achieve quality, through-put and cost targets
Review of MRB to identify rework or disposition non-conforming product
Review Production Schedule, pre-stage setups to insure proper tooling, material and gages
Communicate to the Production Manager any issues or opportunities that would change the scheduled completion times and set detailed specifications and implement production plans
Maintain and control tooling to reduce coast and eliminate downtime
Establish, maintain and review: Down Time Log, Machine Crash Log, Broken Tool Log, Tool Change Log, Training Matrix, Process Sheets, Set Up Sheets, and Inspection Sheets
Executes trials, including data analysis, supplier run-offs, and effectiveness of all poke-yokes
Leads and participates in the review and updating of machine and tool standards, including poke-yoke to reduce manufacturing errors
Oversee process design projects and ensuring the projects are completed within the timeline set
Besides designing new processes, improve the present manufacturing or production processes to boost productivity, quality, and profitability for a company
Research and purchase new manufacturing technology, work in collaboration with the engineering department to improve production equipment functionality
Implement the transition of new technology to make sure production continues successfully without any interruptions
Design and develop system hardware and software for automated control of processes
Design and develop system hardware and software for automated inspection of product quality using machine vision and image processing
Program PCs and/or PLCs for automation
Support and improve existing automation systems
Support deployment / training / documentation of automated systems
On-going support and gradual improvement over the life-cycle of an automation system
Overseeing some projects cradle-to-grave
Prepares geometric layout of designs using proper software while running simulations or tests
Writes and modifies programs, analyze and select speeds and cutting tools for optimal efficiency

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology or equivalent work experience
Strong experience in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
Ability to create basic graphical user interfaces (GUI, HMI or MMI) for operator control
Knowledge of image processing concepts and algorithms
Good Project Management skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
Knowledge in programming mills and lathes for complex parts with small tolerances
Proficient in use of SolidWorks, Mastercam or equivalent Cad program
Strong mechanical aptitude and understand of efficient work holding techniques
Strong knowledge of machine functions (G-codes, M-codes, work offsets, etc.)
Familiarity with production machining practices for cutting Aluminum, Aluminum Extrusions and Steel
Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
Ability to identify and address CNC machine issues related to the product quality
Experience in use of calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, height gauges, etc

Preferred

5+ years related experience
Experience in high volume, machining of various metals
