Responsibilities

Execute performance, durability, thermal, efficiency, NVH, and safety tests; troubleshoot issues and identify root causes using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW
Set up and operate test infrastructure, including benches and dynamometers, monitor and control test environments (temperature, load, voltage, etc.)
Collaborate with test technician to develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols to validate drive unit performance and reliability
Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design and reliability to identify and resolve technical issues and improve product design
Develop test requirements, plans, and specifications for powertrain components (e.g., motors, inverters, gearboxes) based on system and design targets
Collaborate cross-functionally to identify failure modes, support DFMEA/PFMEA, and generate design validation plans
Participate in quality investigations, support corrective actions with suppliers, and contribute to continuous product and process improvement
You may travel to external test labs for testing activities in Bay Area

Required

Deep understanding of EV powertrain systems, including motors, inverters, batteries, and gearboxes
High Voltage training or demonstrated working knowledge of high voltage DC systems, electric drive units, and associated safety protocols
Hands-on experience with test planning and execution for performance, thermal, durability, and NVH testing
Proficient with test infrastructure and instrumentation, such as dynamometers, and data acquisition systems
Data analysis skills using MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, controls, and statics/dynamics
Experience with failure analysis and root cause investigation in a test or development environment
Familiarity with validation and quality tools, such as DFMEA, PFMEA
