CTPC Costume Assistant

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore is a long-standing organization committed to enhancing community welfare through Jewish values. They are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Costume Assistant to support the costume department during the pre-production, rehearsal, and performance phases of their upcoming productions.

Assisting with costume fittings, alterations, and organization
Helping source, pull, or shop for costume pieces and accessories
Labeling, organizing, and maintaining costumes and wardrobe area
Providing backstage support during tech rehearsals and performances
Assisting with laundry, costume repairs, and quick changes as needed
Documenting costume notes, tracking changes, and updating wardrobe paperwork
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized costume workspace
Communicating effectively with the costume team, cast, and stage management
Must attend all production meetings, special events, and trainings required
Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required

Experience and a love for teaching children of all ages, as well as extensive experience in their art form, is imperative
Must attend necessary production meetings as well as tech week rehearsals, shows, and strike for each production
Assisting with costume fittings, alterations, and organization
Helping source, pull, or shop for costume pieces and accessories
Labeling, organizing, and maintaining costumes and wardrobe area
Providing backstage support during tech rehearsals and performances
Assisting with laundry, costume repairs, and quick changes as needed
Documenting costume notes, tracking changes, and updating wardrobe paperwork
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized costume workspace
Communicating effectively with the costume team, cast, and stage management
Must attend all production meetings, special events, and trainings required
Providing CTPC/JCC must provide proof or willingness to get: Background-checked with fingerprints on file
Trained in preventing and detecting child abuse and reporting protocols
Completed and updated health forms on file with JCC/CTPC
Responsible for understanding all safety procedures of the J and could lead the participants in the event of an emergency
Adhere to the dress code requirements as well as always meet all JCC standards forth professionalism in conduct and appearance; Instructor agrees to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the class
Must wear JCC issued nametag or name badge
Basic sewing, alteration, or garment care knowledge is a requirement
Strong organizational and communication skills, a willingness to collaborate with peers and colleagues, enjoys working on a team, and can be flexible
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Flexible availability for rehearsals, fittings, and performance dates
Ability to lift/carry costume bins or supplies as needed
Excels in classroom management; commands a room but remains patient and ever inclusive to all students as per the JCC and CTPC values
Ability to communicate effectively with the artistic team

Preferred

Submissions with musical directing, performance, and/or teaching reels is highly preferred
Previous experience in costumes, fashion, or theater preferred
