CT Tech/X-Ray Tech

Responsibilities
Obtaining pertinent clinical history necessary for the radiologist to interpret the CT scans
Communicating with referring physicians and other health care personnel, calling reports as needed
Explaining CT procedure to patient and family as needed
Practicing sterile and isolation techniques to prevent contamination
Starts IV for contrast media injection
Performing IV injection for contrast media administration; obtaining appropriate allergy history, assessing patient condition and reporting to the radiology nurse or radiologist as needed; performing CPR and other supportive emergency procedures
Preparing final paperwork and scan into the PACs system
Efficient at downtime procedures
Properly tracking examinations using the Radiology information system
Performing CT computer boot up and shut-down functions, reporting malfunctions of equipment to Radiology Services Engineer or calling for service, and maintaining equipment accessories in a clean and orderly manner
Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned
Orients and trains new staff
Works with job shadow, students, etc., to familiarize with CT
Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required
Reporting supply order to appropriate person
Keep examination room and department clean and stocked with supplies
Maintaining personal licenses and assuring that the minimum number of CEU's have been met
Assist with all quality control of equipment as assigned by the Coordinator/Director
Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process, and compliance
Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes
Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes
Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department
Establish and maintain great working relationships with other departments within the area
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an approved school of radiology technology
Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
Certification by the Indiana State Board of Health
Three months of on-the-job training
Knowledge of radiation emitting units
Skills to position patients properly for all examinations
Well-developed communication skills to understand written and verbal instructions
Interest in scientific, technical and computer knowledge to master the principal protocols in obtaining CT images with minimal exposure to the patient
Computer skills necessary to maintain accurate patient treatment records
Ability to work in a clinical environment with hazards due to radiation
Physical ability and stamina to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, provide CPR
