Civil Engineer I/II/III/IV - Contract - Transportation Planning

City of Orlando Careers is seeking a Civil Engineer to work on transportation planning projects funded through the US Department of Transportation grant program. The role involves professional engineering work related to the Vision Zero Orlando Action Plan Update, including designing and reviewing plans for transportation projects, overseeing data collection, and ensuring compliance with city standards.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Perform professional engineering work in the design or review of engineering plans and specifications for the construction of quick build transportation projects such as curb extensions, traffic calming, slow turn wedges, daylighting, chicanes, or median refuge islands
Overseeing before and after data collection and evaluation to measure efficacy of such project, including crash data
Preparing programmatic and fiscal grant reports in compliance with federal guidelines
Prepare designs and detailed specifications for construction or are responsible for the review of plans submitted by engineering consulting firms to ensure construction is compliant with City of Orlando standards and engineering principles, methods, and techniques
Plan details of work and make technical decisions
Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
six (6) or more months professional experience in civil or transportation engineering, public works construction, land use planning or related field
two (2) years of experience as identified for Civil Engineer II
four (4) years of experience as identified for Civil Engineer III, including at least two (2) years of experience in transportation development review, traffic studies, or crash data analysis for Civil Engineer III
Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) required for Civil Engineer III
Registration as P.E. in the State of Florida required for Civil Engineer IV

Preferred

Engineer Intern (EI) certification for Civil Engineer I
registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida for Civil Engineer I
Urban or Transportation Planning experience for Civil Engineer I
Project Management experience for Civil Engineer I
Ability to work independently with little supervision for Civil Engineer II
One year of supervisory experience for Civil Engineer III
