Maintenance Intern - Mechanical

Responsibilities
The Maintenance intern will provide support for maintenance, engineering, and production. Support includes troubleshooting, startup, commissioning, and maintenance of the plant assets, focusing on safe, reliable, and cost-effective production in a lean manufacturing environment. The intern program provides On-the-Job Training (OJT) Plan working with designated team members
Safely performs assigned tasks competently and efficiently
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
The selected candidate will be onboarded as a maintenance trainee intern and will work with our current maintenance team and supervisors in an industrial maintenance discipline
Will learn how to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical and/or electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments, drawings, and diagrams
Will learn to remove/replace defective parts by disassembling machinery, using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools
Will assist in controlling downtime by preforming routine preventative maintenance requirements, daily equipment inspections, and monitoring machine operational performance
Perform duties as needed in support of the plant
Qualification
Required
Must be enrolled at an accredited university/college/trade school and be pursuing at least a two-year technical degree in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent area and have completed the first year of core technical courses
Required cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
Ability to work minimum 20 hours beginning Summer 2026. Hours will be based on a part-time work schedule during the school semester and/or a full-time work schedule of 40 hours per week during the summer up to a maximum of 1,000 hours during any 12-month period
Ability to work in a production-oriented environment
Preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions
