Intern - Naturalist (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is seeking a Naturalist Intern to assist education staff at Good Earth State Park during the summer session. The role involves supporting community programs, assisting with day-to-day operations, and developing future programs related to South Dakota's natural resources and cultural history.

Responsibilities
Assist education staff with programming needs at Good Earth State Park and Lake Alvin Recreation Area
Serve group and community programs, ranging from preschool to adult classes
Assist with day to day operation and maintenance duties of the Good Earth State Park Visitor Center
Assist with programs, develop future programs for the public, and work at the information desk to meet programming and customer service needs
Qualification
Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Knowledge of: A working knowledge of the natural and cultural history of South Dakota
Skill to: Develop and present informational programs to a diverse group of park users
Ability to: Communicate effectively in a public setting, work as part of a team
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions
