The State of Delaware's Attorney General's Office is seeking a Deputy Attorney General to provide legal advice to the Office of Unclaimed Property and the State Lottery Office. The role involves representing the State Escheator in matters related to unclaimed property and providing legal counsel on various issues including procurement, contracting, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Provide counsel related to unclaimed property reporting and examinations of corporate entities to determine compliance with the State’s escheat law
Provide counsel related to the processing of claims for unclaimed property
Represent the State Escheator in claim appeal proceedings before the Tax Appeal Board
Represent the State Escheator in litigation
Provide counsel with respect to procurement and contracting, legislation and regulations, FOIA, personnel matters and other matters
Provide legal advice relating to procurement and contracting, multistate agreements for shared Internet gaming platforms, and licensing denials, suspensions and revocations
Periodically file or update trademarks
Provide advice with respect to the exclusion of individuals from casinos and internet gaming
Provide counsel with respect to legislation and regulations, FOIA, personnel matters and other matters
Handle additional assignments as directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head

Required

Membership in the Delaware Bar is required
Ability to work independently
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to communicate clearly with client agencies
Demonstrated legal ability and a thorough knowledge of relevant laws
Excellent writing, research, and statutory interpretation skills
Proficient in contract drafting, administrative law, and regulatory compliance

Preferred

Experience in gaming laws and regulations
Experience litigating cases before an administrative hearing officer
