The DAGs will defend the State and its agencies in various civil litigation matters, focusing on civil rights, employment law, and constitutional issues.

Responsibilities
Represent the State, its agencies, officials, and employees in a wide range of civil litigation proceedings in both federal and state courts—including cases involving civil rights, employment, social services, law enforcement, corrections, and other matters arising from State operations and legislation
Handle cases that frequently involve issues of administrative law, federal and state constitutional law, and statutory interpretation
Advise State agencies, officials, and employees on civil litigation matters and lawsuit settlements
Work closely with and be supported by legal assistants (paralegals) and legal administrative specialists
Handle additional assignments as directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head
Qualification
Required
Membership in Delaware Bar is required
This DAG must be admitted to the District of Delaware, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, or eligible for admission to those courts
Experience in civil litigation, preferably including depositions, oral argument, and courtroom experience
Ability to handle a large caseload independently without extensive supervision
Good judgment and attention to detail
Travel within the State may be necessary
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background checks
Direct deposit of paychecks is required as a condition of hire
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
