Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist (ST) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers in the Operating Rooms of the Ohio State University Surgery Center

The ST is generally assigned to perform the scrub role in various surgical procedures and also performs routine unit tasks

They provide emergency care measures as appropriate, and assist in meeting the patient's emotional needs

The ST follows universal precautions, safe handling guidelines, and all other infection control standards

They provide for safety/security of self and others and follow special precautions as related to patient care

They maintain a clean/organized perioperative unit

The ST promotes a positive attitude to staff, families, and patient/guests as well as maintains patient confidentiality

The ST performs all tasks in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care, meets hospital continuing education and certification requirements, & upholds goals and objectives of the OSU Surgery Center

The ST contributes to organizational effectiveness and demonstrates career growth and development

Required

Must be a high school graduate or possess the GED

Satisfactory completion of a recognized training program for operating room technicians or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check

A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process

Previous experience in the Surgical Center Operating Room as Surgical Technologist
