Radiologic Technologist I/II/III
County of San Mateo is a public hospital and clinic system fully accredited by The Joint Commission. They are seeking a qualified Radiologic Technologist I/II/III to perform standard and routine radiographic procedures, as well as specialized diagnostic areas such as CT and Mammography, while ensuring high-quality imaging and patient cooperation.

Responsibilities
Perform radiographic examinations of varying difficulty by positioning the patient and programming proper exposure factors and table movements
Select proper techniques to produce quality images while keeping dose low
Provide radiation protection in accordance with prescribed standards
Does portable radiographic work in Surgery, Intensive Care, Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical Inpatient Units and the Morgue
Perform various CT scans following set protocols or radiologist instructions and instruct patients in preparation for the procedure
Perform patient positioning and table movement
Identify anatomies and produce images of pathologies
Select appropriate equipment for various types of procedures
Administer oral and rectal contrast media for enhancement of scan
Prepare contrast media for injection
Assist in CT guided biopsies
Perform quality control and record results
Prepare examination room for type of examination scheduled and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available
Prepare patient for examination and coordinate with nursing duty station on patient preparation
Maintain established aseptic procedure protocols
Assist physicians in performing head, body, leg, gastrointestinal and renal angiographic and vascular procedures
Respond to emergencies as needed
Schedule and instruct patients in interventional procedures
Perform quality, routine and specialty mammographic views
Perform quality controls and record results
Maintain infection control standards
Provide patient education/instruction and scheduling
Assist in training Radiologic Technology students in various diagnostic procedures in specialty areas
Assume responsibility for accurate data collection for quality assurance procedures
Perform mandated quality controls and record results
Administer CPR to patients in emergencies
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Certification as a Radiologic and Fluoroscopic Technologist issued by the State of California (CRT)
Licensure as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
One year of radiologic experience which has resulted in demonstrated competence in X-ray examinations and in either Invasive Fluoroscopy Procedures or Mammography (for Radiologic Technologist II)
Two years of radiologic experience which has resulted in demonstrated competence in X-ray examinations and in either Invasive Fluoroscopy Procedures or Mammography and at least one other diagnostic procedural area (for Radiologic Technologist III)
Ability to perform all standard/routine radiographic procedures
Ability to perform or be able to be trained in performing procedures in at least two specialized diagnostic areas
Ability to work independently in providing a full range of varied shift coverage that includes PMs, Nights, Weekends and Holidays
Ability to gain cooperation of patients in order to obtain high quality images
Ability to work with patients of varying ages
Knowledge of applicable X-ray and imaging equipment and techniques
Knowledge of regional and gross anatomy and physiology of the human body
Knowledge of trans-sectional anatomy of the human body
Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques and equipment associated with the two other specialized areas of competence
Knowledge of X-ray occupational radiation hazards
Knowledge of procedures and use of pressure injectors, monitoring equipment, aseptic techniques and contrast media
Skill to follow oral and written instructions
Skill to deal tactfully with patients and physicians
Skill to assist in instructing and training others
Skill to administer first aid and CPR
Skill to position patients and make sharp, clear images of designated areas
Preferred
Mammography and/or Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning experience is strongly preferred
Certification in Mammography issued by the State of California (CRT) (for Radiologic Technologist II if assigned to Mammography)
Certification in Mammography issued by the State of California (CRT) and Certification in Mammography issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (for Radiologic Technologist III)
Certification in Computerized/Computed Tomography (CT) issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (for Radiologic Technologist III)
